Mahmut Sahin

He was born in 1973 in Duisburg, Germany. In 1991, he took Rik'a lessons from Mr. Aydın Ergün at Caferağa madrasah.

In 1993, he started to work with Hüseyin Kutlu Bey in Hekimoğlu Ali Pasha Mosque in the sülüs and nesih writing types and in 2002 he received his icazeti in these writing types from Hüseyin Kutlu

Bey. In 2000, he started to study talik with Prof. Dr. Ali Alparslan at the Süleymaniye Library of the Ministry of Culture. In 2004, he received talik icazeti. With the patronage of Prof. Ali Alparslan and the encouragement of Mr. Hüseyin Kutlu, he traveled in many provinces of Anatolia such as Kocaeli, Bursa, Eskişehir and Kütahya for about 20 years and gave calligraphy lessons. The artist, known as ‘Traveling Calligrapher’ in the public opinion, has been instrumental in introducing hundreds of people to this art and has trained many students.
